The Manitoba Simmental Scholarship program was developed in 2004, to benefit Manitoba youth involved in the Young Canadian Simmental Association (YCSA).

To raise funds for the scholarships, ticket packages on a Simmental heifer donated by a breeder, are auctioned off at various Simmental events. For every $10 bid, the successful bidders receive a chance to win the donated heifer.

2004-05 Scholarship Program:

The heifer was kindly donated by Glen-Lynn Simmentals of Hamiota, MB. Brian Bouchard of Bouchard Livestock International of Crossfield, Alberta was the winner. Brian graciously put the heifer up for auction with all proceeds donated to the scholarship program.

2005-06 Scholarship Program:

The heifer was kindly donated by Wayne Currah of Milestone Simmentals, of Minnedosa, MB. Winners were Miles & Bonnie Glasman of Russell, MB.

Scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 each were received by:
Andrea Bertholet of Hartney, MB
Danna Hunt of Portage La Prairie, MB
Brett McRae of Brandon, MB

2006-07 Scholarship Program:

The heifer was kindly donated by M & J Farms Simmentals & Red Angus, of Russell, MB.

Scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 each were received by:
Ashley Schweitzer of Decker, MB
Jennilee Bernier of Fisher Branch, MB

2007-08 Scholarship Program:

The heifer was kindly donated by Wilf Davis, Davis Livestock Service of Douglas, MB and the care and feeding of the heifer (until the draw) was kindly donated by Bill & Nancy Biglieni, WLB Livestock of Douglas, MB. Winners were Richard and Leland Bramley of Minnedosa, MB.

Scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 each were received by:
Melissa McRae of Brandon, MB
Erin Jackson of Inglis, MB

2008-09 Scholarship Program:

The heifer was kindly donated by Preston Stock Farms of Hamiota, MB. Tickets were sold at all Manitoba Simmental events, and by Manitoba YSCA members. The heifer was won by Rob Sharpe of Broken Oak Simmentals, who has kindly offered to donate the YCSA 2009 Scholarship heifer. We very much appreciate the continued support. Winner was Rob Sharpe of Rapid City, MB.

2009-10 Scholarship Program:

The heifer was kindly donated by Broken Oak Black Simmentals of Rapid City, MB. Tickets were sold at all Manitoba Simmental events, and by Manitoba YSCA members. The heifer was won by Butch Kostesky, Hamiota, MB.


The Roy A Wallace BIF Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honour the life and career of Roy A. Wallace. Two scholarships will be offered in the amount of $1,250 each. One will be awarded to a student currently enrolled as an undergraduate and one to a Master of Science or Doctoral program student.
